Sad to relate, Walter Perkins (tenor) left Luxembourg in early 2004 and returned to the USA.  We are pleased to say, however, that our good friend Jim Foulkes was able to take his place with Intermedii.

Walt was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England and raised in Rochester, New York*.  The  son of a jazz trumpet player, he himself chose to make the trumpet his career.  He was a member of the United States Military Academy Band at the famed West Point Academy and taught band at a school in New Jersey before accepting, in 1972, the position of second trumpet in the orchestra of Radio-Télé-Luxembourg (now the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg). Walter is also an accomplished composer, having studied with Samuel Adler at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. His works and arrangements have been recorded by the American Horn Quartet. Until recently Walt was also active with the OPL Brass Quintet, with which he toured China in 2002.

* he can still switch seamlessly from a New England to a Lancashire accent.  Well worth hearing - ed.
